GARAGE FIRE 3/20/08 AT 03:22 HOURS

On 3/20/08 at 03:22 hours BPD officer Andy Smothers called ECC to report a working garage fire in the 100 block of East Potomac Street in Moose Heart Alley. ECC dispatched company 5, 19, and Loudoun County 12. Chief 5 Lipscomb arrived on the scene and reported a working garage fire on the east end garage of a row of 5 attached garages, with power pole. power lines, and telephone lines involved, and established command. RE-52 arrived on the scene with driver T. Watson and one FF Pierce, an attack line was pulled and fire suppression was started, AC-53 Houser arrived POV and assisted with the initial attack, as well as Truck Engineer Nalborczyk who arrived in Truck 5. ECC advised Command that Tanker 5 had failed and ask if they wished it replaced, Command advised yes dispatch next due, in which company 20 was dispatched. Loudoun County E-12 arrived and helped with suppression, the fire was extinguished within 12 minutes. Company 20 arrived on the scene and assisted for a short time prior to being placed in service by command. Salvage and overhaul was completed in 30 minutes. The fire was driven by 35 mph winds from the south. Frederick County and State FM's were called to the scene to investigate, the last company 5 unit cleared at 05:31 hours.
